Great hearing from you again! And thanks for the updates on your travels. Love the Oakland art deco--it does have quite a bit! And the eclipse totality photos were stunning. Take care!

I enjoyed this post! Thanks for including some lyrics from "Rivers and Roads." I love that song!

An audio postcard, what a neat idea! I like your voice. I think I'd be too shy to improv on a recording like that (my wife is the opposite. She is actually in an improv group that performs weekly). But I did do an audio recording of one of my shorter essays ("Beech Tree Insight"). I'll likely do more in the future. Thanks, Jessica. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for reading and your encouragement! That song has been ringing in my ears!! Our little conversation about ‘going nowhere’ has also been on my mind! Substack is an echo-y space for me so far so I’m glad to have your feedback.

Now the Talking Heads song will be in my head! (Road to Nowhere) :-)

Just a few months ago, when I first started my Substack, I posted a few Notes, got zero response, and wondered what the heck was the point. But then I noticed that if I tagged someone, or interacted a little with their Note or post, it made a difference. Actually, there was an article I found on the internet by a couple that writes a travel blog and how they grew their readership (I know, what a tired subject!). It was helpful for me. I'll try to find it and share it with you.
